The Blue Train

The Blue Train, one of the world’s most lavish railways, runs a number of different routes within South Africa. With a maximum of 2 guests per suite, you will be guaranteed a smooth journey aboard this moving five-star hotel with premier personal service. Route: Pretoria – Cape Town

The route between Pretoria and Cape Town is a 27 hour journey over 994 miles, through some of South Africa’s most beautiful and diverse scenery. The Southbound trip departs Pretoria at 8:50 and arrives in Cape Town the following day at noon. The Northbound trip leaves Cape Town at 8:50 and arrives in Pretoria the following day at 12:30pm, with a stop at Matjiesfontein for an excursion.

Route: Pretoria – Durban

The route between Pretoria and Durban provides two night accommodation on the train and two nights at the Zimbali Lodge in Durban. While at the lodge, guests have the option of playing golf or being pampered at the health spa.

The Blue Train can also be chartered for trips anywhere in the country assuming the rail tracks are compatible with The Blue Train’s technology.
